L. Ron Musk
L. Ron Musk - The Beginning
Laughayette Ronald Musk was born on May the 2nd, 1952 in South Africa to Nebraska's 1st US Air Force enlisted woman, Ledora Maye (née Haldebury) and a young South African millionaire male model, Herrold Musk. L. grew up during the space race and was in South Africa until his midteens when he found out he would have to be drafted if he stayed in South Africa. His mother had gotten out of the Air Force when she became pregnant with L., but with the US Vietnam invasion starting up, she rejoined the Air Force, got a divorce, and moved with L. to Guam in the mid-60's.
Ledora encouraged her son to take advantage of his knowledge from traveling and computers, and started L. Ron off on his love of air travel. For his 18th birthday, Ledora pulled some Air Force strings after L. was accepted to Penn State and L. flew on the DC-10's inaugural flight in August of 1970. L. would start his education there, studying computer science with a special focus on transportation usages. He would learn a lot and got his moral compass from the new linebacking coach while student coaching for the Nittany Lions.
Thankfully, L. never was drafted into the military, being his mother's only son, and getting educational deferments but that didn't mean L. wasn't interested in the regalia and decor of the military garb. As a military child (brat), L. had made up his own child military branch with rank & organizational structure, customs & hierarchy, and even uniform & marching styles. L. was a mama's boy at heart and made his mother the Commandant of his US Child Corps military branch. His mother continued to play along with L. until her death, not sure if L. was serious or not even as an adult. L. would later change the USCC idea into the newly conceived Air Org which serves as a tax exempt religious organization allowing Musk to flying without much diplomatic worry.
